Collage artists are a special breed among the creative species, as they often follow no rules or specific practices, yet manage to create something new and intriguing from existing pieces of work. Call it a fresh perspective, or a new point of view, but collage artists seem to be able to take apart and rebuilt images as a neverending and reshaping puzzle. Utilizing cut, torn, or ribbed magazines, newspaper clippings, advertisements, books, and illustrations, adding paint, bits of colored or handmade paper, headlines, texts, photographs, textiles, or found objects – the artist lays out a composition of overlaying images and materials, remixing re-contextualizing, and rebuilding something new from the fragments of old.
