Visual identity for the winner wine of the annual Újpesti Wine Week
The annual Újpesti BorVíkend – Újpesti Wine Week – takes place in its name origin, the 4th district of Budapest. As part of the festivities, a new tradition was introduced in 2020 with the official Wine of Újpest being chosen among the exhibitors with the audience taking part in the voting process. The winner, additionally to the fame and glory that comes with the coveted title, become the official wine representative of the Újpest district at various official events for the following year. And for 2020, the bikavér of Fekete Winery won the title, for which the team of Faraway Design has designed a label full of character, including a thoughtful detail for the future.
A very special feature of the concept is the crest shaped label split in half, with the left side remaining unchanged in the future, while the right side will feature an illustration inspired by the winning winery each upcoming year.
Faraway created a beautiful wine bottle label for the winning wine in which the traditional characteristics of the Újpest district as well as the spirit of the winning winery appear on the bottles equally, sharing the spotlight in harmony. A very special feature of the concept is the crest shaped label split in half, with the left side remaining unchanged in the future, while the right side will feature an illustration inspired by the winning winery each upcoming year. The unique idea works perfectly with the annually changing winner while remaining recognizable and honoring the tradition of the festival. The contemporary serif typography and bold purple color scheme are sure to attract attention and interest from wine lovers everywhere.
For 2020, the Szekszárd Bull’s Blood from Fekete Borpince was selected as the best wine. During the design process, Faraway Design decided to focus on the beautiful view of the winery, emphasizing its natural ecosystem and luscious greenery. Furthermore, we wanted to make the famous Szekszárd wine region recognizable on the label, and to achieve this, Faraway Design worked on the illustration in collaboration with illustrator Alíz Stocker.
