The creative industry can look forward to a new range of 10 solid-colored natural papers made from 100% recycled fibers, certified with the Blue Angel: Koehler Eco®. The range of colors is impressive, consisting mainly of muted colors, inspired by the variety of colors that Mother Earth provides us with every day.
Colors are the most beautiful miracle of nature. Evolution has created a huge communication system based on colors. Added to this are our own experiences in life that we have with colors. All this leads to the fact that colors determine our emotions. It is therefore impossible to see colors without emotion. There is no object in our environment without color, everything is adorned in color. Colors are the key to our communication, because we use color theory to create moods, make decisions, distinguish good from poisonous and recognize danger. 90% of our decisions are made on the basis of color. The power of colors influences us daily and mostly unconsciously.

Red is definitely the color with the strongest influence. It stands for passion, power and anger. Regarding power symbolistic, it is not surprising that red ties are often worn in politics to signal strength, among other things. Colors are the silent communicator of messages.
Blue stands for calm, security and trust. Producers of sleeping pills like to use this color. Green stands for growth, refreshment and the strong power of nature. It creates a balance between head and heart. In communication, this color is often used to refer to nature and health. Yellow, on the other hand, stands for cheerfulness and optimism. In color theory, the color brown is assigned attributes such as warm, grounding and calming. It also stands for safety, security and well-being. Brown is often equated with nature. It is the color of the earth and the soil.
Pink, on the other hand, stands for gentleness, femininity and friendliness. Perhaps you have heard of Baker-Miller pink? The color owes its name to an experiment from the 1970s: Back then, psychologist Alexander Schauss persuaded the directors of the US Navy’s military prison, Baker and Miller, to give some of the cells in their facility a light pink coat of paint. Schauss was convinced of the calming effect of pink. Other prisons followed.
The fact is that we humans can see millions of colors and are influenced by them. It is therefore not surprising that the paper industry is constantly working on new solid-colored ranges or adding new colors to existing ranges and relaunching them.
German paper producer Koehler has also developed a new high-quality range at its Greiz site. Koehler Eco® represents a color spectrum that is reminiscent of the beauty of nature. The colors black (Black Lava, formerly Black) and dark grey (Granite, formerly Dark Grey) have already been available for around 2 years.
Now Koehler has developed 8 more colors inspired by the organic and natural hues of the earth. Each shade captures the essence of the world around us and adds warmth and depth to projects. The earthy hues range from the dusty sandy Clay to the earthy richness of Mud. The green tone of Jade is refreshing and graceful, and Sage, a sage-green color, is noble and soothing. Rose Quartz, on the other hand, captivates with its delicate yet earthy shade of pink. The color Sulphur is the subtle and pale yellow tone in the new range. Winter Sky, reminiscent of misty skies, blue but interspersed with delicate clouds. Gray is represented by the light powdery Dust and the intense Granite tone, which has a slightly blue tint. And with Black Lava, the range is rounded off with a homogeneous black tone.
Crafted from 100% recycling fibers by use of high-quality lightfast pigments and awarded the Blue Angel certification, the Koehler Eco® colors not only look beautiful, but also reflect our commitment to environmental responsibility.
Koehler Eco® is dyed with high-quality lightfast pigments and therefore ensures excellent lightfastness, which is particularly important for packaging. The new colors are available in 3 grammages in 120, 270 and 350 g/m². Black Lava is also available in 160 and 720 g/m². Another advantage is the running direction in the short grain for all 8 new colors.
Agency 101 from Vienna developed a unique communication concept for this new range. “The holistic approach was crucial for us right from the start. From the naming of the colors to the subtle imagery in the photos to the feel of the tool – every detail is designed to create an organic and harmonious overall experience.” Leonie Kaltenegger, Design & Art Direction at 101.

Thanks to the shortened pages, the tool provides an immediate overview of all 10 colors without having to flip through them. Creatives can also get a good overview of how photos look on the paper colors. Half of each photo is underprinted in white and the other half is not underprinted. And often the non-underprinted area is convincing!
This range provides our customers with new colors that can be used in many different ways. Whether in books, packaging, notebooks, invitations, flyers and much more, Koehler Eco offers you a wide range of design options thanks to the exciting world of colors in the new range. You can also create wonderful color combinations. See for yourself!
