Geometric patterns being one of the hottest trends this year, with it’s contemporary, minimalistic and fresh look, reminiscent of it’s scandinavian influences, we’re now seeing it everywhere. Among all the other strong shapes of squares and triangles along the classic linear stripes, is the zigzag pattern. The jagged pattern is seen on everything from stationery and notebooks, to home decor and packaging design. It’s done in all sizes and colors, more often seen in two-toned contrast.
And what’s so special about these so-called Washi tapes? Well, first of all they are way more than just pretty masking tapes. Made of paper, they are surprisingly strong and durable. Made of natural fibres from the bark of trees such as the mulberry tree, the mitsumata shrub or the gambu tree, which all are native to its origin land of Japan. Some Washi tapes can be as strong as duct tape, making them very useful around the house, but most often you can see them used in various decorative uses and crafting. And the best thing is, that they come in hundreds of styles and colors.
