Classmate Studio, based in both Hungary and Finland, is formed of graphic designers Attila Ács, Eszter Misztarka, Fruzsina Fölföldi, József Gergely Kiss and Lili Köves, who all met while studying at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. Initially starting out as classmates (!) the five quickly began collaborating on several school projects together, and later officially founded the Classmate Studio whose sole goal is to create “great ideas for big or small brands in order to help them make a difference in their field”. Mainly working on visual identities, the studio also has years of experience in editorial, packaging and web design.
With a strong visual aesthetic, Classmate Studio combines their knowledge of upcoming trends with classic design elements and teachings, creating contemporary concepts fitting for their clients. Their bold color schemes and enviably clever use of typography set them apart from others. Their latest project, a branding concept for the Future Now design conference is bursting with energy and goes beyond the usual conference/festival identity.
Their concept for the festival is based on current trends and envisions and refers of the future in a modern color palette, 3D imagery, and logotype, which is a smash of traditional grotesk and a futuristic typeface. The contrasts in both bold colors and typeface create an interesting, conspicuous whole that draws the viewer in for closer inspection. Use of photography in branding is still somewhat rare, albeit growing more common, and in Classmate Studios concept it blends in with the 3D renderings seamlessly.
