The first two artists in residence at the Munken Works Space in Berlin, Sun Jung Hwang, and Annemarie Van Den Berg hosted the final viewing of their month-long project post o-f-f-i-c-e. In the project the artists focused on digital versus analog communication and created hand made responses to emails anyone was free to send them. Our editor Sini sent them her own message and received a reply just a few days ago!
In a post last month we recommended you to send e-mails to the two artists in order to receive your own analog answer. I was so happy to find mine in the postbox earlier this week. I had sent them a short Finnish poem, which I’ve liked since I was young. And because it had a special meaning to me, I was even more touched, when the Korean artist Sun Jung Hwang wrote an old Korean poem from the 16th century back to me. She made a beautiful hand painted card of Munken paper with the handwritten poem on top. Definitely, something I will value for a long time!
you ask how many
friends I have?
water and stones
bamboo and pine.
the moon rising over
the eastern hills
a joyful comrade
besides this five
companions what
other pleasure
should I ask?

The final viewing of the work took place in Berlin a few weeks ago where people were free to come and collect their personal responses. See the video to watch the amazing array of works the two artists produced in their one month of residency and to hear how it felt to meet the actual people they had sent their works to. The next artist working at the Munken Works Space is Sandra Kühne from Switzerland.
