Belgrade, Serbia based Beležnica studio is run by two female designers Marija and Iva that focus on creating uniquely elegant event stationery for many occasions, especially for wedding and bridal clientele. Marija and Iva always work with the clients’ wishes in mind, replicating the taste and style of the occasion in the paper stationery.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue – and something unique!
The duo’s talent lies in elegant details and font design, both handmade and digitally designed. As most of the work is in Cyrillic, fonts that would go well with the design are hard to find, resulting in Marija and Iva to create the fonts and lettering themselves.
Yet it’s the details that really make Beležnica’s work stand out. For example, when designing wedding invitations, they always make sure to incorporate something unique representing the couple in question. Most of Beležnica’s favorite details to use, such as ribbons, lace, stickers, flowers, wax seal, are small, but extremely effective.

“Our concept is based on designing and printing custom wedding stationery. Putting our own style together with our client’s requests and making a one of a kind product. Sometimes working on a project for clients can be challenging because we always want to stay true to our style and also make any wish a reality for the client. But there is fun in trying to find a solution that makes it possible. The fact that we also play a small, but significant role in making a wedding complete, makes us happy. And we never look at it as a job, but rather a part in making memories of a special day”, Marija and Iva continue.
Choosing paper styles with subtle texture and organic feel from the Europapier paper collection
The choice of paper for a wedding invitation and envelope can make a big statement. “Papers we tend to use are with subtle texture and organic feel. A most common choice of paper for printing our invitations is COLOR Style Smooth (white, 300g). Often, we also use SH Recycling and Crush Collections. All papers are exclusively available at Europapier”, Marija and Iva tell us.

When choosing the paper for a wedding invitation Beležnica looks at the color scheme of the overall wedding design and attempts to find a unique paper style that would accompany that specific look. “If a paper has a subtle speckle or a light tint of color it can make the invitation that more interesting and unique. Sometimes, we also use different paper combinations, one for the invitation, and another for the envelopes, so the complete concept of the invitation can easily pop up”, Marija and Iva explain.
Beležnica prints the wedding stationery digitally, occasionally using popular printing technique for weddings, such as foil printing. Most commonly clients choose gold or copper foil, depending on the theme of their wedding and decoration style. And combined with the right paper, its reflective, mirror-like surface makes an impressive and well-designed wedding detail.
