Hungarian graphic designer and illustrator Zsófia Szabó creates gorgeous portrayals of different fruits, vegetables, and berries in her series of Botanical Illustrations. Her ink drawings are beautiful in their simplicity and the colors on the paintings subtle and harmonious. Fitting for this time of the year, when we celebrate the nature that is coming to life around us.
I love this time of the year. This very short moment in nature which passes by if you don’t pay attention. The first buds on trees, the first shade of green on grass and the smell. Oh the smell! It’s the little things you start to notice, for me it’s the cherry trees down our street. Overnight one day they turn bright pink, which is the sign that Spring is here! And along comes the need to bring that feeling home. Freshly cut flowers, the new product which comes to the season (I go mad over asparagus) and all flower and nature-inspired design and illustrations take over my life. Every spring I fall in love with all of it again. And this time is no different.
Zsófia Szabó’s illustrations are so adorable with so sumptuous and sensual colors, you just want to pick them up and eat them all. The collection seems to be done as a personal project but I so wish they’d be available for purchase as I already a spot in mind for the Prickly Pear and Wild Rose in my kitchen.
Going through Szabós portfolio it becomes clear how talented she is in the use of color and texture, and combining the traditional techniques with digital. Make sure to click over to her Tumblr blog to discover more of the works.
