Last year Europapier Bohemia organized a packaging design competition in collaboration with Mondi and Bugsy’s Bar, a specialty cocktail bar in the heart of Prague, in which designers were tasked with creating a stylish special edition box for Bugsy’s Bar’s own takeaway cocktail mixers. The competition was announced at an organized online event Zabal mě do luxusu! (Eng. Wrap me in luxury!) where paper industry professionals discussed current and up-and-coming printing and packaging trends and the new additions to the premium printing paper range Pergraphica Colours were introduced.
Learning from industry professionals and market leaders, the partaking competitors put their new knowledge into practice and developed stylish new packaging designs
After the original event and the announcement of the competition, four designers and their projects were chosen for the 2nd round in which they were invited to partake in a workshop at a printing house, where they had a unique opportunity to learn from the best industry professional on the Czech market. After the insightful workshop, the partaking designers put their new knowledge into practice and improved their packaging designs before going and presenting their ideas to the judges in the 3rd and final round of the competition which took place in December.

The winning design by Lucie Furmanova is a beautiful box printed on PERGRAPHICA® Infinite Black 350 g/m2 with elegant golden partial varnish printing of a modern pattern together with the Bugsy’s Bar logo. The design follows the art deco-inspired interior of the bar, a classic among traditional cocktail enthusiasts, while the structure itself is sturdy and tough enough to carry four glass bottles in a safe way. The two handles and golden closing ribbon are a nice final touch.
