The packaging design for the 2015 Merlot Rosé from the Dúzsi Winery in Szekszárd, Hungary, is a show stopper in all its simplicity. Dúzsi Tamás’s winery is one of the leaders of the gradually developing family wineries of wine region Szekszárd, with their most succesful product being their rosé wines. Two Budapest based graphic designers responsible for the design; Kira Koroknai and Anna Hidvegi, chose a modest and feminine colour, in harmony with the colour of the wine, as the focus point for the packaging. During their visit at Dúzsi Tamás they learned that hand manufacturing is a very important part of the wine making process, so they chose the ‘hand harvesting’ as a main graphic element for the design, creating the little hand symbol with the dot. The minimal typography in a circle shape goes along the minimal approach. A little booklet in a cohesive design which can be used for different marketing purposes was also created. All in all a beautiful, contemporary branding for a wine that surely will resonate especially with the younger demographic.
