Are you passionate about graphic design and like to illustrate social and environmental issues? Posterheroes is the perfect opportunity for you to leave your mark. This international poster competition invites everyone—students, professional designers, and graphic design aficionados—to create a powerful 70×100 cm poster highlighting key social topics.
Each year, your creative works will be judged by a panel of top-notch experts in graphic design and visual communication. Out of all the amazing entries, 40 standout posters will be chosen as winners.
Posterheroes 13th edition: “Making Mistakes”
The contest, which was founded in 2010 by the non-profit Associazione Culturale PLUG and is sponsored by Favini and ITCILO, is open to everyone – but the deadline for this year’s competition is the 4th of August, so get cracking!
The thirteenth edition is called “Making Mistakes”. In today’s fast-paced world, we’re all about performance and perfection, making mistakes feel like personal failures. But Posterheroes challenges us to rethink this mindset. Let’s question the stigma around failure and embrace a more authentic and human view of life. Imperfections are part of what makes us human, and mistakes can be powerful opportunities for growth and transformation.
Every day, we act as “performers,” curating our online profiles and shaping our social, professional, and personal identities. We thrive on having an audience, whether big or small, that we hope to influence. This makes us feel alive.
However, we often feel pressured to perform, presenting a version of ourselves that meets artificial and normative standards through what we share, like, and post. This drive for others’ approval and positive judgment, based on the perfection of our actions, has become a major source of social anxiety. The quest for uniqueness can ironically make us all the same, and more importantly, it feeds the fear of making mistakes. This fear can be paralyzing, hurting our self-esteem and hindering our personal growth.
Take chances, make mistakes. That’s how you grow.

Since it began, the project has enjoyed fantastic support from the FAVINI paper mill. They’ve been instrumental in promoting the competition and sharing the incredible works selected each year. Starting in 2018, the winning posters have been featured in the Posterheroes Calendar (here the 2024 example based on last year’s competition), which you can check out at the exhibition.
Special care was given to printing the posters on paper. For each piece, the best printing techniques, embellishments, and fine papers from the Favini collection were meticulously chosen. Techniques like hot foil stamping, screen printing, four-color, and Pantone offset printing are paired with embossed, natural, and coated papers. Above all, the paper choice reflected “Paper From Our Echosystem” collection by Favini, known for its high sustainability, to bring out the best in these works. Seeing them in person is truly a treat!
