The art of paper folding, more commonly known as origami, is a popular and beloved technique used in paper crafts and DIY projects. Originating in Japan, the name “ori” meaning “folding”, and “kami” meaning “paper”, nowadays the term “origami” is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin.
The goal of origami is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished three-dimensional sculpture or object through folding and sculpting techniques. The practice traditionally discourages the use of cuts, glue, and markings on the paper, but these are often incorporated in modern origami-inspired crafts and DIY projects.
