Serbian creative Aleksandra Nedovic, her husband Pavle, and their daughter Srna have been building their family-owned specialty stationery brand PurPur for five years now, creating handmade paper products, designed to keep and cherish precious memories. These include unique photo albums, Baby’s First books, wedding invitations, and more, which in the brand’s style entail vintage inspired illustrations and designs. “My main intention is to create something that would feel as it was always there, next to us. Illustrations that I choose and then implement in design are vintage, soft colored. And that’s also how we chose the papers we used”, Nedovic explains.

Via Felt flax design paper’s texture and delicate color provides the perfect base for Purpur’s vintage inspired watercolor-style illustrations
When choosing the right papers for the Baby’s First book, Nedovic found inspiration in her own memories, as the colors and textures of Via Felt flax reminded her of her own childhood. “My friend once said it reminded her of “a warm sweater”, and that’s what I always think of whenever I look at it now”.
Illustrations I use are usually watercolors, and the Via Felt paper texture makes it feel as if they were painted right on it, and not printed, which is especially important for me. It makes the product feel alive and special.
Via Felt flax, a design paper exclusively available at Europapier Group, was chosen for both the album pages (220gsm) as well as for the smaller accompanying things like the envelopes (100gsm), designed to hold the baby’s first hair, or important tickets, birthday invitations, or something similar. The illustrations in the book are plotter inkjet printed, which enables for the colors in the illustrations to be softened by the paper color, to give off a feeling of an old and a new book at the same time. “Illustrations I use are usually watercolors, and the Via Felt paper texture makes it feel as if they were painted right on it, and not printed, which is especially important for me. Additionally, Via Felt flax was used to create a patterned protective cover in which the album is kept in, as well as the tiny etiquette’s with the brand’s “made with purr love”- slogan letterpressed on them – for the perfect finish.
