A young graphic designer fresh out of FH Vorarlberg, Chris Matt describes himself as an idealistic designer – born in the mountains and shaped by the Alps. Finding endless inspiration from the great outdoors, Matt creates multifunctional design, working across fields from branding to campaign design. Always focusing on the core values and the use of proper techniques, his approach is relentless, energetic and curious with the right dose of pragmatism.
So it came as no surprise when he chose to create a visual identity for a fictional outdoors brand as his final thesis project, including two design books titled “Glacier Grey” and “Black Rock”. A project containing research, branding concept and the final product, it’s a great example of the designer’s style and skill set. The core values of the fictional sustainable outdoor brand “Reincarnated Outdoor Crafts” is communicated through upcycled brand merchandise and well-articulated texts and visual elements. A strong idea is cohesively carried through the project via on-point material choices, color scheme and rigorous attention to detail. All printed materials are certified recycling paper with water based digital print.
