Benze is a Budapest based artist known for his complex, tattoo inspired, multi-layered ink drawings complete with hidden meanings and secret interpretations. The sheer number of detail and precision of technique he uses in his work captivates the viewer’s attention, pulling you in to inspect the artwork closer. Benze himself says that his work is meant to be enjoyed as much as a whole, as well as on extreme close-ups, opening a never-ending world of detail and wonder. Using a calligraphy-styled technique similar to tattoo-illustrations, his recognizable and unique style is the result of him almost solely using ink in his work.
Benzo describes his technique as a sort of “distillation” process from the traditional oil painting to the black and white graphics. His work enables the viewer to enjoy his work on macro and micro levels at the same time. This gives a special dynamic visual pleasure what he humorously calls the “Christmas to my eyes”.
“Each work has its own gravitational field which irresistibly forces us to zoom in, explore more, discover new aspects within the whole. I am influenced by the inner and outer circles of my environment, my wife, and the era in which we live. All my work displays thousands of fine details. I create both hand-made ink drawings and limited edition vector graphical prints.” Benze
