Continuing the tradition of producing a new agenda with a fresh inspiring concept each year (previously here), Munken has released its design for the 2020 agenda. In this year’s edition, Arctic Paper chose to work with three talented graphic design students from the École Estienne in Paris; Lisa Millot, Martin Leduc, and Manon Ajorque, makers and shapers of the design landscape of tomorrow. While offering a unique learning opportunity to the students, the annual agenda aims to provide a year’s worth of daily inspiration while highlighting the quality of the Munken Design Papers.
In the La Lune Agenda, the day begins at midnight
In the Munken Agenda 2020, featuring an electric blue moon on its cover, the students daringly wanted to challenge the traditional perception of time and creativity with their conceptual idea: The day begins at midnight.
Throughout the agenda you will find nocturnal symbols, beautifully reproduced in watercolor, to illustrate the atmospheres of the sky and the changing of light, following the shift of seasons. The choices made were pure design choices to highlight the qualities of the different paper grades in the Munken Design Range. And the magic of moonlight.
See the video below where the students talk about their inspiration behind the concept, about the process, the importance of finding the right paper, and their trip to Sweden to visit the Arctic Paper manufacturing site.

Unique details and printing techniques on premium Munken Design Range papers
The agenda is printed on four different paper shades from the Munken Design Range, with each shade representing a certain time of the year with its varying shades of light, going from the creamy shade of Munken Pure to Munken Polar and Munken Lynx, to the true white of Munken Kristall, all available at Europapier. One of the many qualities of the agenda is the unique thread-sewn open binding technique, which allows the agenda to stay flat when opened. The Munken Pure cover is matt laminated with partial UV-varnish gloss on the front, with a debossed logo on the back.
